What We’re Listening To

Every couple of months we like to change up our music selection here at Redefined Home Boutique. With the coming of spring, we’re feeling a windows-down-volume-all-the-way-up sort of vibe from our cds.

The song ‘Birmingham’ will have you wanting to tie your hair into a braid and tap your toes with the windows down on a ’76 Chevy truck. They played recently with The Lumineers here in Atlanta and they put on an amazing show. Also check out the songs ‘Hail Hail’ and ‘Tickin’ Bomb’— they’ve got soul and we’re digging it.

The Head & The Heart’s // The Head & The Heart

This is one of the few records I’ve come across recently I can listen to all the way thru. It’s catchy, it’s heartfelt, it’s a whole spectrum of things that are good about folk music. Check out ‘Sounds Like Hallelujah’ and ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Rivers & Roads’.

These sisters do harmony like nothing I have ever heard in my life. If you get the chance to see them, don’t hesitate for a minute. At one point in the show they cut off the microphones, and sang acapella. Their projection and harmony filled the entire room and I didn’t want it to stop. Their song ‘Emmylou’ references Emmylou Harris and Graham Parsons and Johnny Cash and June Carter (two of my favorites) and the song they did in acapella ‘Ghost Town’ was almost chilling and touching at the same time.

Something about this album takes me back to a psychedelic Pleasantville. It’s got this incredible vibe of an old fashioned microphone and maybe some swing dancing. Real catchy. Listen to “The Bait” or “This Head I Hold”

Hope you’ve found a new spring favorite in at least one of these!
